Bed bugs, Benadryl, and Braveheart

Iaorana tout le monde!  Eaha to outou huru? How are you all doing? This week was yet again a wild one! (Turns out I don't know how to start an email so saying that the week was wild is my go-to  introduction.) BUT!!!  This week was actually wild.  So Sister Winkler started having an allergic reaction to.... something. We aren't exactly sure what but things have gotten a lot better.  At first, the mission assumed we had bed bugs, which is a strange assumption because... 1. we are in bunk beds 2. Sister Winkler sleeps on the top bunk and I am on the bottom bunk 3. I was absolutely fine.  But we do sit on a lot of couches... so we at first treated everything as if we did have bed bugs. That first night where Sister Winkler was instructed to sleep on the couch with me in my bed was interesting. Lots of phantom bed bugs. We eventually ruled that out, but Sister Winkler took a LOT of benadryl. The mission had her take an incredible amount of benadryl which...

Miracles and

Ia ora na mes merveilleuse amis!  Hello all!  This week was a wild one so strap in.  First, Bill got baptized!!! Woohoo! It was amazing. I felt so much peace at the service. I know that Bill's movements of faith this week will bless his life and the lives of so many others!  There were many miracles this week leading up to the baptism.  1. Bill called us on Thursday saying that he thought we had covid. Covid tests are really hard to come by in California apparently, so our hopes for a Saturday baptism seemed dismal. But luckily and miraculously, a ward member had access to a covid test! He helped Bill get tested and then Bill found out that he didn't have covid!  2. We were planning on going to the church building 1 hour before the baptism was going to start. However, on Saturday morning both Sister Winkler and I felt that we should be there an hour and a half early. We acted on that impression and the first thing we saw in the baptistry was a sign t...

Just a bunch of Car-less muckrakers

Iaorana to'u mau hoa e utuafare!  Bonjour mes amis et ma famille! We met with Bill twice this week! He is so awesome and we are so excited for his baptism!  Une petite miracle from this week:  We had a frustrating meeting. After we left the meeting, I was upset at how some things were handled and I felt like an awful person. During this frustration, we got a long text from the kindest woman in one of our wards. She somehow knew exactly what we needed to hear. Simple acts of kindness can be POWERFUL!  This week, Sister Winkler and I were instructed to take our car into a body shop. Why? It was reported that our car had a scratch on it. The scratch was ~maybe~ an inch long.  But, regardless of the size of the scratch and the fact that we would not care if it was our own car, off we obedient missionaries went to the bodyshop!  That was Wednesday.  Today is Monday. We still don't have the car and have no clue when we will get it back. Sister Winkler...

Speedy's Speedy Recovery

Ia ora na! Bonjour! It's your favorite Tuahine who has yet to figure out how to do group emails on her mission phone.  Anywaysss This week was good! Long and tiring but good! Things that have happened: 1. We talked to this guy named Phil whose hobby is driving a remote control semi truck.  2.  We called this older woman and asked her one question. She answered the question then started talking nonstop about the psalms of David for 10 minutes. It was difficult to get off that call.  3. We taught this guy Robert! Robert is so nice but is going though a LOT right now, so pray for Robert! 4. I ate approximately too many things of fruit snacks. There is this woman in one of our wards who has vowed to feed us every single week. It is her goal. A determination. She gets offended and her dignity is hurt if we schedule with someone else. She is fantastic. Anyways, on Saturday she was going to feed us dinner, but then let us know that she had a migraine, but had money f...

Sour Patch and Sister Wrinkly taking Murrieta by storm

Ia ora na to'u mau hoa!  I am determined to write this email quickly, so buckle up for some spelling mistakes and grammatical errors. (What this really means is that if you want to hear the  good  stories you got to email me!) On our last p day, we played soccer and I got hit in the face. Which is funny when you consider that the p day BEFORE that, I got hit in the face with a volleyball.Wish we luck and itoito (courage) for today as we go play sports. My greatest fear is that I become "Sister Hit in Head" or "Sister Concussion Magnet."  BUT, other than that, this week was great!  We taught a BOMB lesson to Bill this week. He is sooo ready for baptism. Go Bill!!! A story from last week that I failed to remember:  We were teaching Marilyn, a super teeny elderly woman. We were teaching about the plan of salvation. All of a sudden, she goes "But what about the ROCKETS?!?!?"  Quoi? "The president of Amazon went up in a rocket this week!" Still tr...
