I have a new favorite missionary...

Sister Jorgensen!  Sister Jorgensen may or may not have paid me to put that as my subject headline. Bonjour tout le monde! Iaorana tatou!  I was on my morning run one day when suddenly I completely biffed it and fell down hard on my knees. Not the best moment of the day, but I did get a cool big bruise that is EXACTLY the same shape as the island of Moorea! #justislandthings #thinkpositive #optimism Is this a sign for future transfers?    Last p day we went to the beach! It was very pretty, but mission rules prohibit us from touching the water. We are all just moana and our mission president is Moana's dad. Sigh. Anyways, we were leaning against a wall and I wondered how a bunch of eels got onto the wall because we were probably 20 feet above the water. Suddenly, a massive wave shoots up and gets me right in the nose. Salt water in the nose, hair, mouth...  (For the record the water touched me and I didn't touch the water. I am an obedient missionary) Man...

How is it possible to be out of breath after sitting down for an hour?

Lessons in tahitian just really do that to you. The stress. Alloooo yo-rah-nee hey-rah-nee!!!!  (Will not explain that joke. Just know that Sr Young got mixed up with how to say hello and our friends name thus leading to a very silly phone call.)  This week was pretty memorable because we started teaching a lot of people who have already progressed a ton. We found Norma, who in the week after we gave her a Book of Mormon read half of it and took notes, as well as Grace, who already reads general conference talks. Ismael finally started reading the Book of Mormon this week and also read half of it  We met with a member who doesn't realise that we are sisters and not elders. The entirety of the lesson was "Elder ma Elder ma."  We found an entire family that prefers Tahitian. It was a huge miracle because I have been praying for opportunities to speak Tahitian. One of the sisters in the family kindly corrected us on our Tahitian and would stop us when she didn't ...

Iaoranaaaaa tout le monde!  Comment ça va? Eaha to'outou huru?  "I think if we killed every mosquito that came into our house for a week, we could DRASTICALLY reduce the mosquito population in Tahiti." -Sr Jorgensen This week was another doozy so strap in, buckle up, and prepare yourself for some... 4 wheeling!  Not really, but kinda. We had a member and his nonmember mother drive us around their neighborhood and introduce us to their friends and neighbors. The neighborhood in question? Way up in the mountains, unpaved roads, was scared that the car was going to flip, suuuuper bumpy,  BUT! This little off-roading adventure gave us enough courage to venture out into these mountains yesterday, where we found 2 new friends!  On friday, we received a reference and went to the house. In tahiti, you don't knock doors. Rather, you just stand in the front yard and yell loud enough and long enough so that someone comes outside. We began our yelling and out comes t...

-said à member in perfect english while handing us à bag of McDonald's.  Iaorana!  There is not much to report on from this week but suffice it to say, we worked very hard, saw many miracles, and got many mosquito bites.  (We live right next to a river and the batteries on our electric mosquito swatters ran out. Horrible) Some highlights:  We have a friend named Heihere. She is 12 and super sweet, but we had been struggling to connect with her. This week we learned that her favorite subject in school is English so we ended our lesson with a conversation practice. English is the way to Heihere's heart and it was a huge miracle to finally be able to connect with her!  Sœur Young felt prompted to visit this neighbor named Hilda! Hilda was not home but her neighbor Norma was outside. Norma told us that her dad is dying and she started crying during our visit. We shared a message about the Atonement and prayer and I hope it helped brighten her day.  On Fr...
