Comment ça va? Eaha to'outou huru?
"I think if we killed every mosquito that came into our house for a week, we could DRASTICALLY reduce the mosquito population in Tahiti." -Sr Jorgensen
This week was another doozy so strap in, buckle up, and prepare yourself for some...
4 wheeling!
Not really, but kinda. We had a member and his nonmember mother drive us around their neighborhood and introduce us to their friends and neighbors. The neighborhood in question? Way up in the mountains, unpaved roads, was scared that the car was going to flip, suuuuper bumpy,
BUT! This little off-roading adventure gave us enough courage to venture out into these mountains yesterday, where we found 2 new friends!
On friday, we received a reference and went to the house. In tahiti, you don't knock doors. Rather, you just stand in the front yard and yell loud enough and long enough so that someone comes outside. We began our yelling and out comes the reference's neighbor!
Neighbor woman: "I'm sorry but I can't invite you in. I have a personal rule where I don't invite strangers into my home. My family had a bad experience and now no strangers are allowed in."
~a few minutes pass~
Me: "I like your flower!"
Woman: "oh thank you! Do you want to see the rest of my garden? Come on in! Come on in!"
She then gave us a tour of her backyard! She also called the reference. The reference did not answer, so neighbor woman proceeded to leave the following voicemail message:
"There are 2 american woman at your house. Hurry up."
Thanks to this wonderful and excentric neighbor, we set up a lesson with Tepurotu! This woman is super prepared, already reads the Book of Mormon and conference talks every day, and wants to be baptized as soon as possible!
Other events:
~Yelled at a man's house and then taught him in tahitian. The lesson went well and it was all in all a very normal street contact.
But would you believe me if I told you that there were 5 ft tall cardboard cut-outs of Alvin and the Chipmunks nailed to this dude's house? Probably not but you can choose to have faith.
~Saw Marlon Brando island. We were way up in the mountains and it was super clear, so we were able to see 5 islands way out in the horizon, including the private island that Marlon Brando bought.
~went on a super long and very difficult hike. I honestly wasn't sure if I was going to be able to finish because it was STEEP, but I did it and only fell on the way back once. For the first time ever, Sr Hatch discovered that she can do the middle splits.
Sœur Young and I really loved the story of Hannah from the Old Testament this week. She couldn't have children but wanted a son really badly.
11 And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.
We loved this prayer of Hannah's because when she had a purpose and intention for the blessings she asked for. I've pondered about this verse this week. When I pray and ask for blessings, will I use those blessings to help others? Is there an intention to how I will act and change because of my prayer? If God gives me something, how will I use that blessing to glorify Him?
I love you all! Je vous aime! Ua here au ia outou!

Pictures!
Imagine this: the mahina ward gets a new bishopric. You get called as the new ward clerk and make the mistake of not showing up to church that week. Not to fear, however, because one member really loves photoshop. I have cried laughing at this photo. Frere Oopa's womanly hand. This man can never miss church again.
Sr Young doing cool yoga and Sr Hatch eating a peanut butter spoon.
Got a cool big fleur.
The hike!
