Betrayal
Iaorana tatou!
I don't have a lot to say this week but I will try to exaggerate it all into one nice weekly email.
On Tuesday we were at a ward missionary meeting. We mentioned how we had had some struggles contacting Taua and that she hadn't come to church yet. A member who doesn't know her asked for her phone number and then called her right in the middle of the meeting. He ended the call and then said,
"So I'll be taking her to the activity on Saturday and she wants to have a lesson on this day..."
The members here are wild.
On Wednesday we went to a faatamaaraa (member meal) with the Imiuras! It was FANCY. We stood on their beautiful porch sipping lemonade out of bamboo straws while watching the sun set over Moorea. It was beautiful and very peaceful. Sr Ware said, "what's wrong with sister Hatch? She's relaxing!" The tamaaraa, a meal featuring poisson cru and sashimi and coconut ice-cream and other delightful foods, was delicious. The members were very fun and it was a lovely fatam.
And then that night Sœur Ware got food poisoning.
It was only a matter of time before the sheer amount of raw fish messed one of us up, but it was rough. I think she might have gotten food poisoning and a stomach virus at the same time. Pray for her. She is doing a lot better though.
We called our medical coordinator on Thursday night. Voici the conversation that followed:
"So Sr ware is really sick and Sr Teruhia feels nauseous but Sr Hatch is completely fine."
Sr Banner: "yeah that makes a lot of sense because tahitians have stomachs a lot stronger than Americans."
I did take that as a compliment and am proud of my strong tahitian stomach.
Anyways, because of the ~illness~ at our house, we stayed inside. I have struggled to do Facebook work this whole time in Tahiti, but this week I taught a lot of fb lessons! That was a huge miracle and tender mercy.
I will be transferred tomorrow to
Mahina!
I am yet again in a trio, which is crazy, but I am beginning to realize that helping other companionships through trios might be one of the purposes of my mission. I am optimistic for this next transfer.
(However it means that tomorrow I will have had 6 companions in Tahiti before I even hit my 6 weeks mark)
I love you all! If anyone needs prayers let me know! Know that God is truly in the details of our lives. When we share our testimonies of Christ with others, we share the light of Christ. Build your spiritual foundation on Christ, on prayer, scripture study, and church attendance. Know that God loves you!
Nana!
