Beef, Television, and other various updates

 Iaorana tout le monde!

I apologize for the depressing email last week. Know that I have had it rough mentally and emotionally the last few weeks, but am now in a place where I feel more peace and safety. God is good 😊

I realized that there were actually some funny experiences from last week that I forgot to include in my email. Because nothing funny happened this week, you will now be blessed (or cursed) with these stories.

1. I am now a television star
We were asked to film a music video for Facebook. No biggie, I've made one loads of times back in California. You just whip out a cell phone and press record.

So I thought.

We show up at the church to record and there is our bishop with RECORDING EQUIPMENT (like microphones and sound machines and headphones...). We recorded the audio of "Praise to the Man" in French and then went into the chapel. In the chapel, we lipsynced to the previously recorded audio while being filmed. It was then that we learned that this video would be part of a Come Follow Me program broadcasted on television and on Facebook for all of French Polynesia. Whoops.

2. Half of my identity and personality my whole life has been built upon the fact that I detest cucumbers but I think I am starting to like cucumbers. Who am I anymore.

3. Members fed us a mardi Gras cake with a little cow trinket inside. Sr Ware got the cow in her piece. The member then proudly said "A Beef! It's a beef!!!"

4. While on an exchange, Sœur Seguritan and I walked around a park. We gave a homeless man coconut bread (physical maa) and shared a scripture (spiritual Maa.) We also started talking to a woman who is very devoted to her religion, but wanted to ask us some questions because her daughter wants to go to BYU Hawaii. We then spent the next 30 minutes wandering around the park with this woman, trying to find her daughter Shirley (named after Shirley Temple.) Twas a bizarre 30 minutes but we finally found Shirley and gave her some encouragement! It was pretty cool.

One of the biggest miracles this week came with our new friend Taua! We found her street contacting and she is a LIGHT. She is so sweet and kind. On Tuesday, Sr Ayers and I taught her. (alone and without a French speaker which is amazing because both of us arrived in Tahiti 3 weeks ago but we're figuring out this whole French mess like the Champs that we are.) Taua patiently listened to the two of us bear testimony of the Restoration and the Spirit was very strong. I felt so much love towards this sweet, patient woman. 💛

Another miracle is that my French has been doing OK! Just the fact that Sr Ayers and I, the two Tahitian newbies, spent a whole day together alone and still taught several lessons, participated in meetings, and found people shows that the Gift of Tongues is REAL.

Une petite pensée spirituelle:
"And by day have I waxed bold in mighty prayer before him; yea, my voice have I sent up on high; and angels came down and ministered unto me." -2 Nephi 4:24

On my mission, I have gained a strong testimony that God often speaks to us through the actions of earthly angels. One such angel this week was Sr Seguritan. I was on an exchange with her. During our daily planning, I began talking about the trials I am going through and quickly started SOBBING. Sr Seguritan gave me the biggest hug and didn't let go until I had let out all of my fear and frustration and anger. Her kindness and service was a HUGE answer to my prayer.

Ça c'est tout! Nana je vous aime!

Forgot to send pictures of one of the most gorgeous sunsets I have ever seen. You can see the island of Moorea from Faaa and it was just incredible. Also enjoy pictures of your California girls in front of California Burger- Seguritan served in Arcadia which neighbors Riverside and we have both had the bizarre experience of driving on Euclid avenue into the other mission.
