Like Manna from Heaven, it rained cats and dogs
Iaorana à tous!
J'espère que votre vie est magnifique et carrement maita'i roa!
We will begin this email with a grand miracle:
We taught Robert again! (We knocked on his door last week and taught him a few days later.) His roommate Rich joined in and we taught the Plan of Salvation. It was an awesome lesson. This is my first time teaching people who have been incredibly prepared to hear the gospel- they are READY.
We went back to Salvation Army with the Hermanas! We helped hand out food carts in the rain! I love serving at Salvation Army. It has given me a huge appreciation for what service missionaries do. The Sister there, Sister Miller, is incredible and Salvation Army cannot give out food unless she is there to help them. I love her and love being able to serve people around Christmas time!
Speaking of, send me your addresses if you would like a Christmas card signed by yours truly!
Ontario = one big litter of cats.
The streets of Ontario = just cats. Not people to talk to. Just cats.
On Saturday, Sister Dailey saw maybe 11 cats on one street, including one which fell out of a tree as we walked by.
It landed on its feet.
We faced a lot of rejection this week, but we started teaching some pretty awesome people. One is Valerie, who was taught previously but fell off the face of the earth for a few weeks. We had an amazing zoom lesson this week where she told the times she has felt peace- when she is listening to religious music and when she felt prompted to help a certain person who had fallen on the side of the street. We confidently told her that she was guided by the Spirit. I love Valerie and am excited to continue to teach her! Pray for her!
On Friday, Sister Dailey and I went to a Christmas party for the women in our ward. The opening song chosen was I Heard the Bells at Christmas Day, which is one of my favorites.
However, the lady conducting the meeting decided we would only sing the first 3 verses. She wasn't familiar with the song and didn't realize that the 3rd verse is notably depressing:
And in despair I bowed my head:
“There is no peace on earth,” I said,
"For hate is strong and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men.”
While we found it funny at the time to finish singing with this sad idea, I am eternally grateful to know that because of Jesus Christ and our loving Heavenly Father, we can confidently sing the 4th and 5th verses:
Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
“God is not dead, nor doth he sleep;
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail,
With peace on earth, good will to men.”
Till, ringing, singing, on its way,
The world revolved from night to day,
A voice, a chime, a chant sublime,
Of peace on earth, good will to men!
Christmas and the things associated with this season mean nothing without the events of Easter- without the miracles and love that come from knowing that God is not dead and peace and joy will prevail.
So, let us let the bells of kindness, joy, and light peal more loud and deep this Christmas season!
I love you all! I am grateful for all of you! Keep being awesome! Check out @findjesus.inlandempire on Instagram to see a silly reel that Sister Dailey and I made.
Nana! Je vous aime! Ua here au ia outou!
Love,
Sœur Hatch at Christmastime
