WE ARE SINNERS

I hope you all had a wonderful week! We did a lot of work, I got somewhat more tan, and I ate a new fruit, so the week was pretty solid. 

While street contacting, we walked past this old woman who was waiting for the bus. She has a super high pitched nasaly voice. We shared a little tahitian message, and she just went off about how jealous she was of our youth. We kept going on with the message, and then the Mami proudly and loudly exclaimed "ON EST PECHEUR!!!!!!" WE ARE SINNERS!! Sinners people! parau mau, parau mau , c'est vrai. 

Other events: 
Sr Cloud found out the Queen of England died and had a breakdown. 
"I never thought it would happen! How could nobody have told me? THE QUEEN DIED?!?!??" silly 

Also, I asked Cloud about the new styles of clothing in America. Behold the following conversation: 
Me, wearing a giant bright baby blue tahitian mumu grandma dress with lime green leaves all over it: "so would I be able to get away with this in Utah?" 
Cloud: 😬😬🤮😵‍💫😬😬

There were many other silly events of this week, but we saw many miracles as well! One was with Sabrina, a member referral who is absolutely incredible. She was able to go to the meetings when Président Nelson came to Tahiti in 2019. She said that the prophet's voice sounded like it was lifting their burdens. I really loved that! We have been given prophets to lift our burdens. From Mosiah 24: 
"And I will also ease the burdens which are put upon your shoulders, that even you cannot feel them upon your backs, even while you are in bondage; and this will I do that ye may stand as witnesses for me hereafter, and that ye may know of a surety that I, the Lord God, do visit my people in their afflictions.
   15 And now it came to pass that the burdens which were laid upon Alma and his brethren were made light; yea, the Lord did strengthen them that they could bear up their burdens with ease, and they did submit cheerfully and with patience to all the will of the Lord."

Second email because why not! 
This week was really good. I really love Ruatama. We have taken a dead area and found a ton of new friends this week that have a lot of potential! Sr Cloud has a ton of energy and enthusiasm and gusto for the work, which helps me a ton. My roommates are silly and have only pranked us a couple of times, but do not fear because I prank them back every time. Life is good and i love you all!

  Joyeux noël to'u mau hoa maita'i roa! Maybe I'm feeling sentimental or maybe I'm just lazy, but this email will merely feature the lessons I learned this week.  1. Sacrifice brings blessings The first time I was in the Spanish ward, I was pretty excited. It was something new and different and I was ready for tacos. This time, however, I was not happy about it.  You see, in my pessimistic eyes, I had spent 7 months diligently studying French and Tahitian, but here I was in the Spanish ward for the second time, with no idea of if I would ever speak the languages I had studied.  In Spanish lessons, I am not able to teach like I usually do. Tacos and transfers!

  Ia orana tout le monde!  Or better yet: HOLA!  'Twas an interesting week in the bario de Español!  Fun fact: I still don't speak Spanish and I left our last Spanish event with a HEADACHE, but it was very maita'i roa!  Knowing that my comprehension and ability to communicate wouldn't be the greatest during Spanish lessons, I instead decided to focus on what I felt while teaching. With this focus, it was much easier easier recognize the Spirit that was felt. It was amazing to feel peace and upliftment during lessons and be able to still share my testimony. During one lesson with our amigo Mario, I shared a thought about repentance and it was then translated into Spanish. Mario kept pointing to me throughout the lesson. I had no clue why and just sat there in silence, hoping that the reason why he kept pointing to me wasn't because he got horribly offended by my statement. You fall off à chair one time during à lesson...

  And you lose the trust of our entire teaching pool forever.  It was a slow life-flashing-before-your-eyes fall. Bonjour tout le monde!  This week was not too crazy but know that probably 30% of our time was spent trying to figure out Alexis's baptismal papers. Rip.  My tahiti-related abilities are slowly progressing! My french is getting better, I can understand more Tahitian, and I am way better at killing mosquitos and sweeping cockroaches out of our house. And that is growth.  By rough estimates, we think that we have been given $150 of fresh coconut water in 3 weeks. Take that dehydration.  I went on exchanges in Faaripo with Sister Jorgensen! We were on bikes which was fun and we taught a lot of cool lessons! One of our friends said the following:  "Yooooo my friend i hinaaro un casse crout."  That is indeed a sentence in 3 languages and if anyone can figure out what it means, you win!  I don't have a lot to write about this week.
