Spooky season and gratitude
To be completely honest, this week has not been my favorite week of the mission. It has been pretty hard and rough but! Life goes on.
Ontario is good! It is a fun city that is on a grid, which makes it easy to find stuff. (Sighs at Murrieta which is a mess.) There are lots of trees and mountains!
This week, our ward had a primary program! Primary programs (church services where the young children give the talks and sing the songs) are supreme. I felt the Spirit SO strongly during the songs that these children sang.
Like I said earlier, this week was really hard. One of my goals for my time in Ontario is to write down 1000 different things I am grateful for. If my math is correct, which it probably isn't, that is about 25 different things each day. It has been a challenge to think of new things, but it has taught me that even during the rough weeks where we feel little and unloved, there are multitudes of blessings that God has lovingly given us. I have still a long way to go to become a more grateful person regardless of my circumstances, but this gratitude goal has really helped me this week.
"How blessed we are if we recognize God’s handiwork in the marvelous tapestry of life. Gratitude to our Father in Heaven broadens our perception and clears our vision. It inspires humility and fosters empathy toward our fellowmen and all of God’s creation. Gratitude is a catalyst to all Christlike attributes! A thankful heart is the parent of all virtues."
Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Another parau poro'i spirituelle:
I was reading an old letter from my lovely mother. In this letter, she defined optism as "faith with a smile." It is sometimes hard to have optism when things may not be going how we want them to, but I love how she said that optism was faith. Optism is the faith and hope that things will work out for our good because we have a loving and living Heavenly Father.
I love you all! Je vous aime and I hope you all have a wonderful, maitai roa week! Nana!
